I got a chance to visit the Mercedes Classic Center in Stuttgart, and one of the featured cars was an AMG 6.9.
It was a full Euro spec model, running the very rare 16" Penta rims. I liked the look so much that I went searching for a set of my own when I returned.
Here's the Classic Center's 6.9:
...and here's Frank, with his newly acquired 16" Pentas at the Seattle Show and Shine!
The next project was replacing all the speakers in the car, as well as adding an amplifier and subwoofer to the trunk.
First was determining where the subwoofer power would go through the firewall from the battery into the passenger compartment...
Right in front of the driver's side A-pillar seemed like a good place.
Flex loom to keep things looking tidy and protects the 8-gauge wire.
The fuse right in front of the battery.
Next was pulling the deck to run the 12v turn on lead, connect the RCA jacks for the sub, and run all new wires to the speakers.
...removing the interior to run wires to the trunk and rear deck. Power on one side, signal on the other.
Running wires through an existing rubber grommet on either side into the trunk.
The speaker box with amp (before securing in trunk). 400 watts running into two 10" JL Audio subwoofers.
MB Quart component speakers for the front. Crossovers shown.
crossovers about to be mounted underneath the glovebox.
Front speakers were a perfect fit for the factory location! Rear speakers dropped into the rear deck with
no issues as well. Now the car sounds fantastic, with very good sound quality inside and plenty of bass.
